On the beautiful coast of Senegal, within the welcoming grounds of a Baptist compound, a diverse group of 18 students gathered for an unforgettable journey of learning and growth. Among them were six young women and twelve young men, representing different cities and life paths—some already working with orphans and street children, others balancing jobs, university studies, high school commitments, and even sports.
The training focused on Trauma & Crisis Level 1 and Level 2 modules, blending teaching with interactive learning. What unfolded was more than just a course—it became a joyful exchange of experiences, ideas, and heartfelt participation that enriched both instructors and students alike.

One of the most powerful moments came during a forgiveness exercise. A participant, deeply moved, found the strength to forgive her husband—a breakthrough that revealed the transformative power of the sessions. Such experiences underscored the depth of healing and empowerment this training offered.
The students’ evaluations reflected this impact vividly. One shared a newfound motivation to work with street children, feeling better equipped to recognize and manage trauma symptoms. Others expressed their commitment to share their knowledge and remain connected, ensuring the lessons learned ripple outward into their communities.
This training was more than an event—it was a catalyst for change. By equipping local leaders with tools to address trauma, it empowered them to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families. The enthusiasm, resilience, and compassion of these young participants stand as a testament to the lasting influence of the program.
